Coffee Bar Window Frame Craft- Step by Step Tutorial

Writer's picture: Tara JoyTara Joy

Good morning! I don't know about you, but I am an ABSOLUTE coffee lover! So much that my entire kitchen is coffee themed. Today I am going to give you a step-by-step tutorial on how to create this fabulous window frame craft. I made mine in a coffee bar theme because as I said my kitchen is coffee themed, but you can definitely make this in any theme that matches your decor. Let's get crafting!!!

Supplies Needed:

4-5x7 picture frames (I used the wood frames from the Dollar Tree canvases)

Oval shaped wood piece from Dollar Tree or any craft store

Ribbon of your choice

Wood beads

Jute Twine

Tissue Paper

Paint of your choice

Hot Glue (I use wood hot glue)

Instructions:

If you are using the canvases as I did you are going to want to remove the canvas from the wood frames with a utility knife. Don't worry about removing the staples because you won't see them in the final project.

Once all the canvas is removed sand the frames to make sure you have a smooth surface to work with.

Using your wood hot glue or any wood glue adhere all four frames together creating a "window". I usually glue two together at a time and then once those dry, I glue all of them together.

Next you want to paint or even stain the entire window frame. You do this after gluing the frames together because sometimes glue will not adhere to a painted or stained surface. Once you have all sides inside and out painted go ahead and set it aside to dry completely.

Next grab your oval shaped wood piece. You can actually use any shape you want I just had an oval one in my stash. Paint your shape with 2 coats of white paint drying between coats. I usually paint one coat and dry it with my heat gun (or a hair dryer) and then apply the second coat.

While waiting for your items to dry take your wood beads (I like to use an even number) and add them to a sandwich baggie. Squirt a small amount of the color paint that you painted your frame into the bag seal up the bag and squish it around until all the beads are covered in paint. Dump them out onto a paper plate making sure they are spread out, so they don't stick to each other and set them aside to dry. You can also buy colored wood beads at any craft store if you would rather do that.

Next, using the printing on tissue paper tutorial that I have posted on my site, print out your desired design.

Using the decoupage method linked here apply your design to your oval wood piece. "Step-By-Step Guide: How to Master the Art of Decoupage for Stunning Home Decor" (joyfulprints22.wixsite.com)

Next you want to cut your jute twine long enough to make a small hanger and string your beads on the twine by knotting the first end and stringing as many beads as you want and then knotting the other end to hold the beads in place.

Attach the hanger to your wood piece using your hot glue.

Finally, you're going to attach the hanger to the top of the window frame that you made out of the picture frames. Apply a little bit of hot glue to either side of the oval shape and the bottom where the oval touches the window frame for more stability. Then make your bow using your ribbon and you have a fabulous new decoration for your home! I attached a saw hanger to the back of my frame to hang it on the wall.

I hope you got some inspiration from this and will create your own. I'll see you on the next post! Happy Crafting!
