Good morning!! One of the types of creating that I just recently learned and am having SO much fun with is decoupaging!! Today I am going to give you step by step instructions on how to decoupage. This won't take long because it is a very simple process but trust me you can make some FABULOUS projects!
Let's get started!!!
Supplies needed:
Matte Mod Podge- You can buy this almost anywhere including Dollar Tree. Make sure it's matte and not glossy because you don't want the shine.
Picture printed on tissue paper or a decorative napkin- Refer to my blog post on this page to show you how to print on tissue paper.
A blank- basically what this means is whatever it is that you want to apply the design to. This can be wood, glass, plastic or basically anything!
How to Decoupage.....
First you want to pick out your blank. If you choose wood or something besides glass, I recommend painting the surface first with acrylic or chalk paint. Most of my projects that are wood that I have decoupaged on I've painted with white chalk paint, but you can use any color desired that matches your home decor.
Once you have your blank you want to pick out your design. If you're choosing the tissue paper method, simply follow the blog post I've made that instructs you on how to do so. If you choose to use a decorative napkin, make sure that you peel back all the layers until you have a single layer. Most napkins only have two layers.
Next apply a light coat of Mod Podge to your surface and carefully lay your design (tissue paper or napkin) on top of the Mod Podge and carefully run your finger over it to remove any wrinkles.
Finally apply a second coat of Mod Podge over top of your design to seal it and let dry completely before adding any embellishments to your project.
And you have just completed your first decoupage project!! Trust me once you get the hang of it you'll be decoupaging EVERYTHING!
That's all for today and I'll see you on the next post. Happy Crafting!!!
