Hello and welcome or welcome back!! Let's create another patriotic item! Let's get crafty!
Please note that included in this post are Amazon Affiliate links and I do earn from qualifying purchases.
Supplies Needed:
3 Wood Birdhouses- I bought mine at Michaels Craft Store but you can get them at any craft store and usually pretty inexpensive.
12in Wood Plank- I got mine from DT
Wood Letters- I had mine in my craft stash and honestly don't remember where I got them, but you can get them at any craft store.
Red, White, and Blue Paint
Brown Paint or Wood Stain
Fairy Lights- These are the ones I used https://amzn.to/3yPgpBp
Hot Glue
Instructions:
First thing you want to do of course is paint your birdhouses...one in red, one in white, and one in blue and also paint your wood letters the same. I didn't mention but we are using the letters U S and A.
Next paint or stain your wood plank brown and set it aside.
Once the paint is dry on all your birdhouses and letters, attach the letters to the birdhouses using hot glue. If you notice I used the little "perch" as a guide as where to place my letters on each birdhouse.
I decorated each birdhouse differently. For the red bird house, I made a little bow using red and white baker's twine. For the white house I painted red stripes on the roof to create stripes like the flag. And finally for the blue house I painted white dots on the roof using the end of a small paint brush (the end you hold) to mimic stars on the flag.
Next attach the birdhouses to the wood plank evenly spaced with hot glue. Just a little note...I use hot wood glue whenever I'm working with wood.
Finally wrap the fairy lights around the wood base and attach the power pack to one end of the bottom of the base. I added a small block to the bottom of the other end to even it out.
Here is what the project looks like lit up
